“My clients are pleased to inform you that the matter has now been settled. The terms of the settlement are confidential,” said Luis Sarabia, a lawyer representing Ralph Reichmann, 89, and his wife, Ada Reichmann, during seven years of litigation, in response to questions from National Post.Their son, Abraham Reichmann, 60, who sued his parents and some family companies, was also pleased the suit was settled, said his lawyer, Tom Curry.

Monday’s scheduled commencement of trial became a Tuesday start. Tuesday’s hearing never happened and neither did Wednesday’s. Because the trial was to be held online, there was no courtroom notification. It seemed the obvious answer, even to the judge handling the lawsuit back in 2015, when Frank Newbould, then an Ontario Superior Court judge declared: “This case cries out for settlement.”Article content

From the 1970s through to the 1990s, Ralph and two of his brothers, Paul and Albert, rebuilt the landscape of Toronto, New York City, and London, England. Paul, seen as the leader of the pack, died in 2013.
