A 40-year-old man and his three-year-old daughter died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road following a car crash. The man had initially fled the scene of the initial collision before leaving his vehicle and being hit by another car.
A tragic incident occurred in Pickering, Ontario, on Tuesday night, resulting in the deaths of a man and his three-year-old daughter. Durham police responded to reports of a driver failing to remain at the scene of a collision around 7:50 p.m. The 40-year-old man was driving a Honda and turning left onto Taunton Road when he collided with a Nissan travelling southbound. Instead of stopping, he continued driving west on Taunton for approximately 350 meters.
Witnesses reported that he appeared to be fleeing the scene. Eventually, the man left the roadway and struck a guardrail, coming to a stop in a ditch. He exited his vehicle with his daughter and attempted to cross Taunton Road while carrying her. Sadly, they were struck by the driver of a BMW. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His daughter was taken to a hospital in Toronto but also passed away shortly after.
