The Family Support Worker is a member of the Healthy Growth and Development team which is responsible for the delivery of the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program as mandated by the Ontario Public Health Program Standards, Under the direction of Program Manager and in collaboration with the Public Health Nurse, the FSW works with families to: develop parenting skills and knowledge, assist families with accessing community resources and services, and work to meet the identified family goals.
• Demonstrates knowledge of strategies that support families in developing positive parenting skills.• Extensive knowledge and the ability to navigate and link clients to community resources and organizations. • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse individuals, families, health and social services professionals.• Use of a reliable automobile, valid “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence as ability to travel within the East Algoma District is a requirement.• Advanced oral and written proficiency in English is essential, proficiency in both official languages considered an asset.• Must be prompt, reliable and maintain a good attendance record.
