Upcoming events: A Christmas Carol at First Metropolitan United Church on Friday; CRD guided walk on Sunday; Family FUNday at Kaleidoscope Theatre on Sunday.
A Christmas Carol for a good cause A Christmas Carol has been a seasonal staple for more than a century-and-a-half, and it’s a gift that keeps on giving. The Charles Dickens classic has been adapted innumerable times for film, stage, and opera productions since 1843, with staged readings becoming popular of late.
Some “very special guests” will also appear, according to organizers. “Just like Scrooge, one can’t help but be moved and transformed by the true meaning of Christmas as captured in this classic tale,” Julian Daly, chief executive officer of Our Place, said in a statement. The all ages drop-in event gets underway at 10 a.m., with a self-guided walk along Elsie King Trail — designed to mimic a bear’s perspective of the seasons — and holiday craft-making among the offerings. The self-guided walk begins at the nature centre off Munn Road. The trail requires all guide and service animals to be on leash.
Family FUNday at Kaleidoscope Theatre Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is hosting Family FUNnday on Sunday at the Kaleidoscope Arts Centre .
