Satterfield died in 2018 in what was described as a "trip and fall accident" at the Murdaugh home, Bland said. A settlement agreement stipulated US$2,765,000 for the Satterfield family, but they never saw that money, the affidavit said. Instead, the money went to an account Murdaugh created and owned for his own use, the affidavit said.
