An organizer with Edmonton\u0027s Pride Corner is facing her third restraining order in one year after conflicts with street preachers.
Avnish Nanda, Pearan’s lawyer, told the court on Monday that Podgornaja’s application uses the same evidence from the previous order which a judge has already dismissed, and said about the use of restraining orders that “this is part of a tactic.”
“If you start using this process, not accepting the decisions made by judges, then you may be looking at costs,” she warned Podgornaja. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.A judge lifted the first restraining order in March, which was filed by Fawn Lamouche against Pearan in October 2022. Lamouche had claimed Pearan “repeatedly got in my face,” posted a video on TikTok, and engaged in stalking and intimidation.
Pearan said it’s important to counter those messages because of how they impact, in particular, young people.
