See That One Photography/Special to The Guardian - ContributedCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Laurie Murphy, a seasoned improv performer with about 30 years of experience, will be teaching drop-in improv classes in Charlottetown and Summerside in January.

Murphy, who learned from teachers such as Charna Halpern and Lisa Merchant, among others, has performed on various stages and with troupes such as Brunswick Stew and the FIGHT Club. In addition to her performances, she has taught improv to students of all ages across P.E.I., Labrador, western Newfoundland and Ontario."Seeing my students master the rules and skills of improv that build entertaining and powerful scenes onstage makes me happy," Murphy said.

"Seeing their joy in making things up on the spot and the joy it brings to their audiences makes me very happy." Murphy's HA Club Charlottetown drop-in improv classes are on Mondays, starting Jan. 2, from 7-9 p.m., at the Irish Culture Centre at 582 North River Rd. HA Club Summerside drop-in improv classes are on Wednesdays, starting Jan. 11, 7-9 p.m., at Brothers 2 at 618 Water St. East.or by texting 902-960-1735.
