A motorist is facing impaired-driving charges after travelling on three wheels from View Royal to Saanich and sparking a small grass fire.
Saanich police responded to a report about 1 p.m. Monday that a vehicle missing a front wheel was travelling on West Saanich Road near Quadra Street, in the Royal Oak area. Officers located the vehicle in the 4200-block of Glanford Avenue, after it had come a stop when the entire passenger-side wheel assembly broke.Police determined the first report about the vehicle had come 30 minute prior, when it was seen in the 1400-block of Admirals Road in View Royal, before somehow making it to Saanich minus a tire.The driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he registered almost two times the legal limit of .08 blood alcohol in a breath test.
