The carbon tax is a fee charged on fossil fuel emissions like oil, coal, gasoline or natural gas, except for hydroelectricity or any other green energy, which does not produce carbon emissions. It was created to encourage people and businesses to use green energy. To offset the impact of the tax, the federal government is going to be sending quarterly rebates of $110 for individuals and $220 for families.
