Barley Risotto and Kimchi: A Culinary Crossroads| SaltWire #food #cookingshorts #kimchiSYDNEY — A Nova Scotia Police Review Board decision that ordered discipline for two Cape Breton police officers has been set aside after a judge ruled the board left unanswered questions as to exactly what the officers did wrong.
In doing a compliance check to ensure Garnier was at his father’s home, police received no answer at the Bedford residence. Police in Sydney were then asked to conduct a compliance check at the home of the mother. The following day, officers MacSween and Walker arrived at the Millville home and arrested Garnier for breaching the terms of his release conditions – failing to be present for a compliance check.
Garnier appealed to the review board which, after a six-day hearing, determined that MacSween and Walker breached a code of conduct by arresting Garnier without good or sufficient cause. Const. Campbell and Fraser were found not to have breached proper conduct of a police officer. Both officers MacSween and Walker testified at the board hearing that home-owner Kim Edmunds invited them into the home. Edmunds said the officers just entered the home with no invitation but added she did not expressly refuse entry into the home. The board concluded that Fraser was not aware a warrant was required and that such conduct was inadvertent and did not amount to discreditable conduct. It also concluded that officer Campbell was also not at fault.
