Czechia secured a bronze medal at the world junior hockey championship after defeating Sweden 3-2 in a shootout. Eduard Sale scored the winning goal in the 14th round, beating goaltender Marcus Gidlof. Sale and Jakub Stancl also scored in regulation for Czechia , while Michael Hrabal made 32 saves. David Edstrom scored twice for Sweden , who got 30 saves from Gidlof.
Czechia, which had previously won silver in 2023 and bronze in 2024, has now made the podium at three consecutive tournaments for the first time since Czechoslovakia's dissolution in 1992
