As the seemingly eternal debate of who’s better between transcendent soccer superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi rages on, score another point for the former, at least when it comes to a recent ESPN list., a ranking of the most famous athletes on the planet as determined by Google search score, endorsement dollars and social media followers.
Somewhat surprisingly, Messi didn’t follow right behind Ronaldo, with the No. 2 spot belonging to Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. Messi was No. 3. Ronaldo and Messi were just two from a soccer field that dominated the list with 37 entrants. Basketball came in second with 16 entrants.• Not a single hockey player made the list.streamer/esports player Tyler “Ninja” Blevins made it.• There are only three female athletes on the list and they all play tennis: Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and India’s Sania Mirza.
