The township’s Planning and Community Affairs Committee made the decision on September 16 in front of a large audience at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre.
The developer – Avenu Properties – has proposed up to 600 units with mixed housing types. They had asked for a Ministerial Zoning Order to set the community’s density, as well as which kinds of housing and businesses could be put there.The following week, council upheld the committee’s decision. “Scugog Council appreciates the information that has been presented to council regarding a request to support an MZO,” wrote Mayor Wilma Wotten. “We respect and take note of the many delegations, both on September 16 and again on September 23 speaking on the issue and expressing their concerns.”
