Ward 3 Councillor Angela Caputo, after failing to secure a seat on the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Board for the second time, argues the board needs a diversity shakeup. She highlights the historically male-dominated composition of the board and emphasizes the need for fresh perspectives and a new direction. While acknowledging the recent appointment of Nuala Kenny, a former city solicitor, Caputo reiterates her desire to bring a different lens to the board and encourages citizens from diverse backgrounds to apply for future openings.
After two unsuccessful attempts to gain a seat on Sault Ste. Marie's police services board, Ward 3 Coun. Angela Caputo is warning the oversight board is overdue for a diversity shakeup.
"The police services boards is one of the boards that I have a real interest in sitting on," Caputo said. "I think it's healthy for boards to have people come in and shake them up a little bit and have those different lenses and different ideas, different perspectives. Caputo expressed appreciation that former city solicitor Nuala Kenny was recently appointed to the police board.
