A meteorologist from Environment and Climate Change Canada advises Saultites to check weather forecasts before travelling over the holidays as temperatures might not be as mild everywhere. While the Sault is expected to see a white Christmas with temperatures around freezing on Christmas Day, other areas may experience colder conditions. The meteorologist also highlighted record snowfall in the Sault in late November and early December.
Although warm weather could arrive next week, a meteorologist wants Saultites to be careful if they plan to travel over the holidays.
On Friday, the Sault could see a low of -21 and a high of -7. The average high for that day in Sault Ste. Marie is -4 and the average low is -13, Kidd said. “Between now and the 24th, there are negative temperatures. The snow isn’t going anywhere, there’s no threat,” Kidd said. On Tuesday, Dec. 24, the forecast is calling for a high of one degree, and Wednesday, Dec. 25 it could be two degrees.
