Cassidy Melo and Jayden Gray were killed when their vehicle left the road between Terrace and Kitimat and rolled over.
The provincial coroners service is investigating the circumstances of a vehicle rollover on Hwy 37 South that resulted in the death of two young Kitimat residents.
On Nov. 6, 2024, Cassidy Melo and Jayden Gray were travelling on Hwy 37 South near Hansen Road just south of the Mount Layton Hotsprings Resort between Terrace and Kitimat when their vehicle left the road. A witness reported the vehicle hydroplaned off the travel surface of the road before landing upside down and submerged in water, indicated a Nov. 19 release from Terrace RCMP. The detachment received the incident report at approximately 10:30 p.m.No cause of death has been determined, but a statement from the provincial coroners service indicated coroners will examine all information available, which could include road and weather conditions.
