The poll body gave assurances that it will be next to impossible to tinker with the system without being detected.
THE Commission on Elections on Wednesday rejected the proposal for a hybrid election that involves a combination of manual counting and automated process for the position of president, vice president, governor, vice governor, mayor and vice governor.'The [automated election] system is designed so that if anyone tries to monkey with the system such efforts become immediately apparent,' said Comelec spokesman James Jimenez during a webinar hosted by the Institute of Corporate Directors.
'We mention always that we have automated elections in 2020, 2013, 2016 and 2019, and never has any election result overturned,' Jimenez said.Former Comelec commissioner and information technology expert Augusto Lagman, who was also a resource persons in the webinar, has repeatedly pushed for the proposal, saying that manual counting will make the most critical part of the election transparent.
