Cleanest sections of the sea for swimming in Blackpool - and the one place you should avoid
As the county is the grips of a heatwave, it's no surprise that thousands rushed to the coast to keep cool over the weekend.
People from all over Lancashire descended on Blackpool to make the most of the sun, but not all of the seaside town's coast water is as clean as the rest.There are four stretches of the Blackpool coast that are designated bathing waters, and eight across the Fylde coast. Each stretch of water is rates from one to three stars. Three star means "excellent" water quality, two star means "good" water quality, and one star means sufficient water quality.
Blackpool Central bathing water has a two star rating. The water is sandy and flat in profile. It is located in the middle of Blackpool's Central and South Piers. The beach is backed by a high sea wall with a promenade running it's length.
