"I'll be on the ballot on Tuesday," Casey said, referring to the vote scheduled next week to select a new Speaker. Rota faced calls for his resignation from Conservative, Bloc, NDP and Liberal Members of Parliament after he gave recognition to a Ukrainian veteran of a WWII division that fought for Nazi Germany. Following a speech before Parliament by Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Rota introduced the 98-year old man, Yaroslav Hunka, as Ukrainian-Canadian veteran from WWII"who fought for Ukrainian independence against the Russians.
