CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – A Cape Breton driver was successful in earning a spot in the national driving championship over the weekend in Prince Edward Island.
The 42-year-old Doucet recorded three victories in the competition with Outrageous Song for trainer Ron Matheson, Moonwriter for trainer Keith Ford and Three Trick Gainer from the Saul Lanigan barn.Thunder Alley three-peat harness racing winner at Northside Downs Meanwhile, Ardon Mofford of Sydney also took part in the Atlantic championship over the weekend. The Northside Downs representative finished in eighth place in the event with 17 points.
Dowling picked up a pair of victories with Woodmere Heather M for trainer Jennifer Doyle and Check Your Source for conditioner Gordie Hennessey. The national driving championship for Doucet and Dowling will take place on July 5 at Hippodrome 3R in Trois-Rivières, Que.
