SYDNEY, N.S. — A Cape Breton referee was recognized by Hockey Nova Scotia for his effort and dedication to the sport during the 2021-22 season. Chad O’Neill of Glace Bay was named the organization’s most improved official for the season. O’Neill worked at several levels during the season including the Maritime Junior Hockey League and Atlantic University Sport.
O’Neill was among the officiating crew for the 2022 Telus Cup national under-18 championship in Okotoks, Alta., in May. Other officiating awards for the year saw Ryan Walker take home the most deserving award and Justin Blanchard was given the most promising official.
