Halifax Regional Police release Dartmouth suspect’s name and photo | SaltWire #news #novascotiaSYDNEY, N.S. — An appeal by a Cape Breton father concerning his assault conviction and sentence has been denied.
The offence occurred in March 2020 in Sydney and involved the father twisting his son’s arm on multiple occasions, bending his fingers back, pulling his hair and grabbing him by the neck.In a recently released decision by Supreme Court Justice Patrick Murray, the father’s bid to have both the conviction and sentence overturned was rejected.“I respectfully find the appellant has not established that the grounds of appeal of his conviction have merit.
“His motions and arguments can be a distraction for the court. He attacks everyone involved, the police, the Crown, the court, his son,” said Ross, in his final ruling, adding the father has too much suspicion about the actions of others but none for his own.Grounds dismissed The father also claimed that Ross limited his ability to mount a full defence in not allowing him to call the witnesses he wanted.
