McDonald will be the lone Atlantic Canadian player on the Ontario-based under-14 team and will travel to Brampton, Ont., this week to join the club for practice prior to the Atlanta Jam tournament this weekend in Atlanta, Ga.
“I’m going to go there and be myself and work hard and show them what Nova Scotia talent is all about,” said McDonald, the son of Kozzy and Amy McDonald of New Waterford. As a first-year player, McDonald played key minutes for the Bears program throughout the 2022-23 season. Along with winning the Coal Bowl title, McDonald and the Bears also took home the School Sport Nova Scotia Division 2 provincial title last month.
Along with the Atlanta Jam, McDonald and the Puma Hoops Canada team will also participate in the Grassroots Showcase, April 28-30, in Louisville, Ky. Prep school and college recruiters will be in attendance for both events.“These tournaments bring a lot of opportunity and options,” said McDonald, noting depending on offers, he’s likely to play at least one more year with BEC next season before making a decision regarding prep school moves.
