has been sent to Montreal to quarantine, after the NHL overturned its initial decision to allow him to quarantine in Toronto.
Following the NHL’s recent overturning of its initial decision, Alexander Romanov has now been re-routed to Montreal and will therefore serve his quarantine here.Romanov left his native Russia on Tuesday and was heading to the NHL’s Eastern Conference hub in Toronto, but the 20-year-old defenceman has since been re-routed to Montreal.
He is ineligible to play in any games but can practice with the team once his quarantine has been completed and he has tested negative for COVID-19. The Canadiens will continue training camp in Quebec this week and travel to Toronto on July 26. The team will play one exhibition game against the Maple Leafs on July 28 and will begin their Stanley Cup Qualifiers series against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Aug. 1.More from Sportsnet
