He is ineligible to play in any games but can practice with the team once his quarantine has been completed and he has tested negative for COVID-19. The team will play one exhibition game against the Maple Leafs on July 28 and will begin their Stanley Cup Qualifiers series against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Aug. 1.New York Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin, who also signed his entry-level contract on July 13, was on the flight from Russia to North America with Romanov.
