Canada's Emily Deschenes and her Halifax Curling Club team will face Korea in Monday's semifinals at the world junior women’s curling qualifier in Lohja, Finland. Deschenes and the Halifax Curling Club team of third Lauren Ferguson, second Allison Umlah and lead Cate Fitzgerald defeated Hungary 8-6 in Sunday’s quarter-final at the world junior qualifier in Lohja, Finland. The Canadian women led 4-1 after three ends before the Hungarians scored a deuce in the fourth, stole one in the fifth and stole another two in the sixth for a 6-4 lead. Undaunted and with the hammer, Deschenes scored four in the seventh to ice the victory and book a spot in Monday morning’s semifinal against Korea.On Saturday, Deschenes stole two in the seventh to beat Slovakia 5-2 and scored three in the sixth to topple Poland 8-6.
