OPINION: Canada’s climate goals can only be achieved if animal agriculture is part of the picture, beef researcher Kim Stanford argues. Vast reductions in meat consumption are not required to meet Canada’s climate goals.
If it hasn’t already, climate change will continue to impact every single one of our lives in different ways. Heat domes, widespread drought, catastrophic wildfires and flooding have been experienced across Canada in just the last year.
Finding solutions and mitigation strategies involves diverse individuals, organizations and sectors working together and finding common ground. With all stakeholders at the table, we can also examine whether proposed solutions for climate change might have unintended and severe consequences that should be considered.
