'It was just coming, there was no stopping it.'According to Environment Canada, "a fast-moving supercell tracked across southern Alberta bringing significant, damaging wind gusts and loonie to golf ball sized hail."The Insurance Bureau of Canada estimates a July 13, 2025, hailstorm that swept through Calgary caused more than $92 million in damage.Environment Canada said conditions in eastern Alberta were favourable Wednesday afternoon for the possible development of thunderstorms that could produce a tornado.Amid ongoing heat waves, cities like Toronto, Montreal and Halifax have seen more days above 30 C than normal, some far surpassing their 2024 numbers.Tiffany Lizée is Global Calgary's Chief Meteorologist, brings viewers current conditions and long range forecasts weekdays on Global News at 5 and Global News Hour at 6.
