Greater Sudbury police responded to 825 high-priority calls for service in January

During this week’s Greater Sudbury police board meeting, Chief Paul Pedersen’s monthly report offered insights on what police were up to in January.

Beyond the month’s headlines, the following is some of what Greater Sudbury police were up to in January. The 911 Emergency Communications Centre experienced “steady call volumes,” with 6,038 calls to 911 received. Approximately 7,727 police calls were created in January, of which 825 were high-priority calls for service. The centre also managed 672 calls for fire services, of which 348 were priority calls.The Traffic management unit laid 101 charges under the Provincial Offences Act in January.The Rural Community Response Unit conducted nine snowmobile patrols in Azilda, Capreol, Lively and Hanmer.
