Environment Canada warns of heavy snow squalls in Belleville, Trenton, and Stirling, while a winter weather travel advisory is in effect for Kingston and Prince Edward County.
The Belleville area is being pounded by waves of sudden blowing snow Thursday morning and afternoon, with Kingston and Prince Edward County also affected. Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for local communities such as Belleville, Trenton , and Stirling. The warning, initially calling for seven to 14 centimeters of snow by evening, was upgraded around 9:30 a.m. to a total of 10 to 20 centimeters.
The Kingston area and Prince Edward County are under a winter weather travel advisory, with five to 10 centimeters of blowing snow anticipated throughout the day. Off-and-on snow overnight resumed around 4 a.m. at the CFB Trenton weather station, where gusts are expected to reach a peak of around 50 kilometers per hour Thursday. The region is experiencing a break from the recent cold snap Thursday, with seasonal highs around -5 C forecast for Trenton over the next three days. Saturday night's low is projected to be around the same temperature
