The Kingston Police Street Crime Unit launched an investigation last summer into an individual suspected of travelling to Kingston 'for the sole purpose of trafficking illicit drugs,' according to police. Police said on Dec.
22, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Division Street and Highway 401. 'Upon searching the vehicle, which was being operated by the individual under investigation, officers located a large quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of $100,000,' police said in a statement.'An influx of drugs from a dealer originating from another city is a serious issue for any community,' police said. 'This often signifies organized drug trafficking, which has far-reaching implications for public safety, community well-being, and law enforcement.
