Day-long session in Thunder Bay hosted by Feathers of Hope
THUNDER BAY — Indigenous young people from many different backgrounds and communities gathered in Thunder Bay on Friday to learn more about how a piece of Canadian law will affect them — and how they can help shape how it will work.
“So far to date, it has only been First Nations, Métis Nation, and Inuit leadership that have been able to provide feedback and recommendations on the plan,” said Koral Hamilton, the project manager at Feathers of Hope.”On Friday morning, the delegates received presentations on the action plan, how it affects them, and were offered the opportunity for discussion.
Nowegijick added that she wants to run for, and become, a Member of Parliament and advocate for Indigenous rights from within government. Hamilton, who said she wanted to see the delegates engaged throughout the day, said during the mid-day break, that discussions slowly started to build up over the course of the morning.
