Halifax police investigating Monday morning Dartmouth death as suspicious | SaltWire #newsupdateHALIFAX, N.S. — A 56-year-old man from Bedford has been charged with causing distress to a dog, which was found in extremely poor health at a residence last year.
On Aug. 31, Nova Scotia SPCA enforcement officers were called to a home with a report of a dog owner refusing to have the animal receive medical treatment.The association says officers at the residence found the dog emaciated, dehydrated and unable to stand on its back end, with a large mass untreated.
In an email, the group says the dog was seized and later euthanized because of the"extensive medical conditions."Zhou is not allowed to own, have custody of or be in care or control of any animal. He is not to reside in any residence or on any property where animals are housed or kept for three years.
He was also asked to surrender any animals currently in their care or custody to the Nova Scotia SPCA within 72 hours of the ruling.
