BC Transit will assume operation of the West Coast Trail System starting March 1, 2025, with service provided by PWTransit Canada. The route will encompass nine round trips across 36 stops in Tofino, Ucluelet, Long Beach, and various First Nations communities. Fares are available through cash, the Umo app, or a reloadable Umo card, with discounts for seniors and children under 12. BC Transit collaborated with local authorities and First Nations to determine bus stop locations and service levels. Notably, the company will include Nuu-chah-nulth language on bus stop signs, a first for BC Transit.

Starting March 1, 2025, BC Transit will be taking over operation of the West Coast Trail System, whichOnce BC Transit takes the reins, the service will be operated by PWTransit Canada.

On weekdays, the buses will run from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. On weekends, there will be one less roundtrip, with buses running from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.Riders can pay for bus fare with cash, or with the Umo app or a reloadable, physical Umo card. Most fares are cheaper for seniors as well, with a single day pass costing $5 for adults and $2 for seniors. The 10-rides fare is also discounted from $50 for adults to $20 for seniors.

The bus operator adds that for the first time in the company’s history, First Nations language will be included on signs in the West Coast Trail System.
