Amador Valley’s Aleena Helms drove in three runs in the Dons’ upset over Mitty at the Livermore Stampede
Amador Valley softball player Aleena Helms is the Bay Area News Group’s high school girls athlete of the week for April 3-8 after she received 38.53% of the vote at the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Archbishop Mitty softball player Ava Markert placed second and Prospect softball player Diana Noriega was third.Helms, a senior, drove in all three runs for the Dons in their upset over highly-ranked Archbishop Mitty, a team that had thrown perfect games in the previous two games. Helms’ single in the bottom of the third inning gave Amador Valley the lead. The Dons also defeated Carondelet and Livermore during the Livermore Stampede tournament.
