Batavia is continuing to grow, both in housing and the number of businesses in town, Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke said Thursday morning during his annual Mayor’s Breakfast meeting. The event, at Covenant Living at the Holmstad at 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, was sponsored by the Batavia Chamber of Commerce. Schielke said “there was a lot to get to this year” and admitted even before his remarks at the meeting “that I might not be able to get to everything.
Even though I’m really active in the community and been on the board of the Chamber and MainStreet and things like that he always had something new that I don’t know about.” Austin Dempsey, who worked to help get the new Flag Day Monument built in town and serves as CEO of BEI Commercial, a real estate company that does commercial development in the Chicago area, said he likes to hear the annual update from the mayor.
