“I believe our future depends on getting visitors out of their cars and onto transit to move throughout our townsite and national park,” Mayor Corinne DiManno said during budget deliberations Wednesday. “We must continue to demonstrate our dedication to transit any way we can.”The current fee structure is projected to generate net revenues of $2.1 million in 2023. The higher rates will bring an additional $1.15 million net revenue in 2023 and $1.7 million the following year.
“I think we have a responsibility to consider the customers of the businesses that pay 70 per cent of our taxes. What I proposed was a compromise that we can always change next season.” DiManno deemed this a “recovery” budget, stating the town’s tourism-based economy has not yet fully recovered.Article content
