It's the first time the Lions will play at the stadium
Greater Victoria football fans will be thrilled to know that the B.C. Lions are battling the Calgary Stampeders at Starlight Stadium in Langford on Monday, May 19.
The football club and City of Langford announced the news Thursday, Feb. 6. Joy was palpable at the podium from the City, who had previously expressed surprise in December 2023 when it was announced the B.C. Lions would play a Canadian Football League game in Victoria in 2024 instead of the Starlight Stadium.
The game will bring"significant exposure to Langford but also contribute substantially to the local economy," Langford Mayor Scott Goodmanson said in a press release. When the Lions played in Victoria, Destination Greater Victoria estimated the overall economic impact was $16 million for the region due to event attendees spending money at local businesses.
