SHELBURNE, N.S. – Production has begun at the Shelburne Regional High School on an art installation that will pay tribute to all of the volunteer firefighting teams, as well as the many volunteers, who helped battle the wildfires in Shelburne County last year, and who helped those impacted by the fires.
It just so happened the proposed art installation project fit the bill for a new program starting up at SRHS. After bringing in the raw material from a local supplier, the students will do everything from cutting out the sheet goods, then cutting out the heart shapes, and sanding everything to a finished product, says Goulden.
The medium for the names was still being worked on but will either be vinyl lettering or stenciled on. Goulden says when he first heard about the art installation project, he thought it was “a fine idea." Grade 11 student Jeremy Quinlan said although his family didn’t have to evacuate their home during the wildfire, they knew people who did, as well as people who volunteered to fight the wildfire.
