DIGBY, N.S. — The Town of Digby is the latest municipal unit in southwestern Nova Scotia to consider allowing off-highway vehicles access on designated town streets.

The meeting will feature a short presentation on the Road Trails Act, followed by an open question and answer session. Written submissions must be received no later than 4:30 pm on April 12. While town council gave first reading to the proposed bylaw on June 19, 2023, the process is currently at a standstill because of the ownership of Spa Road, says Sarah Mattatall, CAO for the Town of Shelburne.

With multi-use trail development east of the Town of Shelburne and west of the Clyde River completed over the past 20 years, the two groups are now focused on developing the section of trail between the Roseway River and Clyde River. “We hope to request OHV Road Trail from our trail at Lyle Road, over the Port Clyde Road Bridge and along Shore Road and Greenwood Road to the Kenny and Ross Seafood Plant where it can rejoin the DNRR managed Rail bed going east,” explains Embree.
