Canada's Cameron Alexander secured a bronze medal in the men's downhill at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships on Saturday. The race took place at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics host venue in Bormio, Italy . This marks Alexander's fourth career podium finish and his second consecutive third-place result in Bormio. Alexander, who won Friday's training run, started sixth and held the second position until Switzerland 's Alexis Monney, the eventual winner, completed his run.
Alexander finished 0.72 seconds behind Monney, edging out Italian skier Mattia Casse for the bronze by seven hundredths of a second. Fellow Canadian skiers James Crawford (17th) and Jeffrey Read (34th) also participated in the race. Alexander expressed excitement about the 2026 Olympics, stating that the track is one he has experience on and has had success with. Monney claimed his first-ever World Cup downhill victory, capitalizing on a rare error from his teammate Marco Odermatt. He edged out his compatriot Franjo Van Allmen, who initially appeared poised for victory after other top contenders faltered
