After weeks of anticipation and the ramp-up of election promises, NDP Leader Rachel Notley dropped the writ Tuesday.
“It is time for an election,” Notley said to the crowd assembled at Calgary’s National Music Centre.Notley made the announcement Tuesday, kicking off a 28-day campaign period.
At dissolution, the NDP holds a majority 52 seats compared with 25 for the UCP.Liberal MLA David Swann, who plans to retire, is the only member of his party in the legislature, similarly to sole Progressive Conservative MLA Richard Starke and Freedom Conservative MLA Derek Fildebrandt.
