Alberta Premier Danielle Smith sent holiday greetings to Albertans, acknowledging both Christmas and the beginning of Hanukkah on the same day.

Alberta premier Danielle Smith wished Alberta ns a merry Christmas and a happy Hannukkah Wednesday. In a media statement, Smith said, Today, Alberta ns of the Christian faith celebrate the miraculous birth of their saviour, Jesus Christ, whose arrival fulfilled ancient prophecies and brought the promise of hope, peace and eternal salvation to the world. His birth in Bethlehem is a reminder of God’s great love for us and his plan to bring hope and salvation to the world.

As families gather to celebrate with their own special traditions, let us also remember those who may be struggling, alone or isolated. I encourage all Albertans to extend a hand of fellowship to share the goodwill of Christmas, and I thank all the charitable organizations, donors and volunteers who give of themselves so that many can celebrate the day.Wednesday also marks the first day of Hanukkah, a rare convergence of the two holidays. As the eight days of Hanukkah begin, I extend my heartfelt wishes to Alberta’s Jewish community, Smith said. Hanukkah commemorates the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days in the temple – a symbol of resilience, faith and divine providence. It reminds us that even in the face of adversity, the flame of hope and determination can shine brightly. As many in the Jewish community continue to face challenges and uncertainty, may the Hanukkah lights bring you comfort, continued perseverance, and hope for the future
