Premier Danielle Smith of Alberta stated that she had not recently spoken with Calgary 's Mayor Jyoti Gondek regarding the Green Line project. However, she mentioned that her transportation minister, Devin Dreeshen, had been in touch with the city. During a press conference in Leduc, Smith emphasized her government's commitment to the Green Line project, extending it to Seton.
She noted that Dreeshen had met with the mayor last week and that regular committee meetings were scheduled every couple of weeks to update on the project's progress. Smith highlighted that AECOM, a consulting firm, suggested that an underground alignment similar to the one in Austin, Texas, was too expensive at $1 billion per kilometre. As a result, the project might be reconsidered for an elevated or at-grade alignment, which would cost significantly less. The project's alignment will determine how much further south the line can extend
