San Antonio Current StaffA modern, urban oasis in the shadow of San Antonio's iconic Tower of the Americas hit the market earlier this month with a $1 million price tag.
Though built in 1910, the two-bedroom, two-bath home located two blocks from Hemisfair is drenched in bold, ultra-modern design choices. For example, the 2,000-square-foot structure's street-facing side retains its early 20th century porch and pillars, while the home's rear features corrugated metal and an industrial look.
The sleek touches continue inside with hexagonal backsplash tile in the kitchen that appears to erupt to the roof behind the vent hood. A sleek polymer kitchen island calls to mind Swedish design with its chic simplicity. Honeycomb tile appears again in a half bath, where it’s joined by a wallpaper of repeating line work faces.
The primary bedroom has a full bath en suite and access to the backyard, which is no less modern than the interior. A xeriscaped pebble and turf yard design surrounds a small swimming pool with a design comprised of interlocked squares.
