ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday instructed the police to produce the plaintiff in court regarding a petition seeking to nullify the 2024 elections. A three-judge panel led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard the plea filed by a petitioner named Ali Khan, who sought to invalidate the general elections held on February 8.

At the start of the session, the plaintiff’s lawyer stated that his client no longer wished to pursue the petition and requested its withdrawal. Justice Isa expressed dissatisfaction with this request, emphasizing that such actions cannot be taken lightly by the Supreme Court.ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court summoned the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq...He insisted on the presence of the petitioner in court and assured that the bench would proceed with the petition. Simultaneously, CJP Qazi Faez Isa instructed the Station House Officer of the plaintiff’s locality to ensure the presence of Ali Khan before the court. The hearing on the petition has been postponed until February 21, and a notice has been issued to the plaintiff through the defense ministry. The Supreme Court received the petition from a private petitioner, urging it to nullify the February 8 general elections due to alleged violations of electoral integrity and democratic principles. The petitioner requested the court to mandate new elections under judicial supervision within 30 days to guarantee fairness, transparency, and accountability.
