LAHORE – The Punjab Disaster Management Authority has warned of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in hilly regions due to ongoing heavy monsoon rains across the province. According to a PDMA spokesperson, torrential downpours are expected in upper Punjab, including Lahore.

In the past 24 hours, Narowal received 58mm of rain, Lahore 27mm, Kasur 15mm, Murree 14mm, Sialkot 7mm, Jhelum 5mm, while Mangla and Gujrat recorded 1mm each. The ongoing fifth spell of monsoon rains is likely to continue until July 31, with provincial and district emergency operation centers placed on high alert.Heavy rainfall has been forecast for Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Murree, Galiyat, Mianwali, Narowal, Gujrat, Sialkot, Toba Tek Singh, Mandi Bahauddin, and Dera Ghazi Khan. PDMA has cautioned that intense rains could lead to flash flooding in low-lying streams and landslides in Murree and other hilly areas. The authority has urged the public to stay informed about weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel, and contact emergency services if needed.
