India unleashes water war, cuts Chenab inflow to 5,300 cusecs
LAHORE India has unleashed a water war against Pakistan by reducing the water inflow of the Chenab River to only 5, 300 cusecs , according to data released by WAPDA.Over the past two days, India has reduced the river’s inflow by 35,600 cusecs, bringing it down to the current level of 5, 300 cusecs —a decrease of 29, 300 cusecs .
Elsewhere, the water inflow in the Indus River at Tarbela is 92,200 cusecs with an outflow of 50,000 cusecs. In the Jhelum River at Mangla, the inflow is 44,300 cusecs and the outflow is 32,000 cusecs. At Chashma Barrage, the inflow is 95,700 cusecs while the outflow stands at 85,000 cusecs. The Kabul River at Nowshera shows equal inflow and outflow at 37,100 cusecs. According to the WAPDA spokesperson, the current water level in Tarbela Reservoir is 1,441.26 feet with a storage of 813,000 acre feet. In Mangla, the water level is 1,136.30 feet with a storage of 1,213,000 acre feet. Chashma’s water level is 646.70 feet, holding 210,000 acre feet of water.
