The intensity of heat persists in Karachi as the temperature rose to 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday morning. Winds were blowing at the speed of eight kilometers per hour from the west while the level of humidity in the air was recorded at over 75 per cent. On the other hand, the weather department said that there was no chance of rain in the port city and that heat and humidity would persist. The weather department said that Lahore and its suburbs could receive light to heavy rain during the next 24 hours.Since the breeze had stopped blowing, there was humidity as well. The Met Office said that the maximum temperature in the city could touch the 42 degrees Celsius mark, while it would remain 33 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.Light to heavy rain lashed different parts of Kasur and Pattoki on Sunday morning, bringing much-needed respite to the people suffering from intense heat.The Met Office said that rain, accompanied by strong gales, was expected to lash a few parts of Islamabad, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Karak and Waziristan during the next 24 hours. It also forecast rain, accompanied by strong winds, at isolated places in Murree, Galyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur during the aforementioned period.It said that the weather in most areas of Sindh would remain hot and humid. However, it said showers and strong winds were expected at isolated places in Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Mithi, Mirpurkhas and Umarkot.
