21 pro-Palestinian protesters arrested in downtown Halifax | SaltWire #halifaxnovascotia #palestineHALIFAX, N.S. — Twenty-one people were arrested at a protest as part of a global Economic Blockade for Gaza in downtown Halifax on Monday morning.
The intersection was cleared by police and a group of 20-30 protesters rallied in front of police headquarters on Gottingen Street because of the arrests. MacLeod said police will remain on scene “to minimize disruptions and promote public safety while the group remains in the area.” MacLeod said protesters who were arrested will be released later on Monday and they will be facing charges of obstruction. Some will be facing additional charges of failing to obey the direction of a peace officer and failing to use the sidewalk under the Motor Vehicle Act.
